George Washington chicken nugget sells for £5k

A chicken nugget that resembles George Washington has sold for £5,000 on eBay.

Rebekah Speights and her husband decided to open the fried snack up to auction.

The foodstuff had been sitting in the freezer for three years, but after the owner discovered the more than passing resemblance it has to the American politician, a few patriots got bid-happy.

Over 70 bids were made for the item and the person who emerged with the nugget will surely be delighted.

Ms Speights stated: "I noticed one particular nugget and began to laugh. I picked it up for a closer look and sure enough it was in the likeness of president George Washington."

I'm sure once she looks at her bank balance she will be more than happy with her decision to put the nugget up for sale.

I wonder what foodstuffs famous American leaders will be seen in next? Abraham Lincoln in a lettuce anyone?
