Nearly £2,000 has been raised for Help for Heroes (H4H) in Lincolnshire at an annual charity event.

It is the third year in a row that people have turned up at Leasingham Village Hall in an effort to collect cash for the good cause, the Sleaford Target reports.

Reverend Manny Wiles was the organiser this year and he said: "It was a marvellous evening with a great big family atmosphere and the evening could only have happened with the great help and support of a number of people."

Music was provided by SuperBus – one of the area's leading bands – and they waived their fee in order to maximise the donation that could be given to H4H.

A raffle was held and among the prizes on offer was a week's holiday in Spain.

The original concept was the idea of ex-Royal Air Force firefighter Steve Wiles.
