Two friends are going to cycle 963 miles as the seek to raise cash for Help for Heroes (H4H).
Joe Sansom and Lee Shepherd are taking on the challenge of pedalling from Land's End to John O' Groats, the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express reports.
The pair – who have been inspired to do something for the charity after their friend Luke Farmer was killed in action – have set themselves the target of collecting £10,000.
Mr Sansom said: "We have seen what is happening in Afghanistan and thought it was a way of remembering Luke, as well as raising money for the soldiers who are still serving there."
They are planning to cycle around 100 miles a day in order to complete the challenge, which is much further than they have ever tried to go before.
In order to properly prepare, the guys are undertaking a six-month training programme.
