Former members of the armed forces have come together to take part in a fashion show designed to raise money for charity.

The event generated much-needed funds for Help for Heroes and was held at the organisation's Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick Garrison.

It was also an opportunity for the charity to raise awareness of its two groups – Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters.

These are for male and female veterans respectively, as well as their families, and aim to give people who have served their country the chance to enjoy days out, holidays and work experience.

Hayley Tonner from Catterick Garrison, a member of Band of Sisters, told the Northern Echo the group has been a "great support network" for her since her husband was injured in the army.

Model Ges Almond, commenting on Phoenix House, added: "Before I came to spend time here my recovery was going nowhere but now I am on my way back to work."ADNFCR-2867-ID-801647558-ADNFCR
