Choosing the setting for a first date can be very tricky.

People have to make sure they pick an activity that both parties will enjoy, or else there could be some awkward silences and pensive glances.

Relationship consultant Kuldeep Brar noted the personality of individuals can influence the type of date they go on.

In terms of how to act, Ms Brar advises people to pay attention to any eye contact and try to read body language or pick up on any playful flirting.

"A quiet romantic corner where you can have a deep and meaningful conversation, or somewhere that's known for the personal touch, is what will make the evening special," she added.

However, individuals should not be afraid to introduce spontaneity and adventure into the proceedings, as an original and fun date can leave the other party very impressed and may go some way to securing a second meeting.
