A family of seven is set to take on one of the UK’s highest mountains in a bid to raise money for solders’ charity Help for Heroes, which is dedicated to helping those wounded in Britain’s current conflicts.

This weekend will see sisters Sally and Tina Barnes, their mother Brenda and their four children walk up Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, reports the Lowestoft Journal.

Jade, 13, Owen, 12, Kerryn, 11, and Becky, 11 will take on Great Britain’s highest mountain south of the Scottish Highlands alongside their parents.

The walk is in memory of Michael Barnes who lost his battle with cancer and the family will be embarking on it “as the first of many fundraising events” while visiting the region for the first time.

A group of Vodafone employees is also planning to embark on a 950-mile cycle challenge from Lands End to John O’Groats in a bid to raise cash for Help for Heroes.
