An ex-soldier has ran six marathons in six days to raise money for the charity Healing The Wounds.

Richard Payne made his way from North Wales to Swansea's National Waterfront Museum though his endurance race, Wales on Sunday reports.

The 36-year-old noted he adopted a strenuous training programme in order to get himself in shape for the challenge, which included running nine miles a day.

He was also helped out by his husky dog Blu, who covered around five miles a day with him.

"I thought long and hard about what charity to support and when I saw the great work that Healing The Wounds was doing I realised they deserved any help I could provide," Mr Payne observed.

The third sector group seeks to aid armed forces suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

It is hoping to raise enough money to build a specialist care facility in Wales for current and ex-servicemen and women.
