A man is aiming to break a world record as he looks to raise as much money as possible for an armed forces charity.

Mark Colman is collecting cash for Veterans in Action and is currently in training for an underwater challenge that will see him submerged for five days next June, the Thurrock Gazette reports.

To promote the activity, Mr Colman took part in a five-hour underwater radio broadcast, which included him playing pool.

If he is to complete the task, the former Royal Engineer will have to learn to sleep and use the toilet when he lives in an underwater tank.

Mr Colman stated he is looking to publicise the event as much as possible and has set himself an ambitious target of £500,000.

Veterans in Action – which deals with the social reintegration of socially excluded HM Forces Veterans – was granted charity status in 2009.
