One man is aiming to raise a significant amount of money for Help for Heroes by undergoing a particularly strenuous charity task.

Ben Greer, a 33-year-old former RAF serviceman, is planning to carry a rucksack weighing 100kg on a walk of some 440 miles, reports Lynn News.

He will get the journey underway today (March 14th) from Lynn, before heading to destinations including Ipswich, Milton Keynes and Nottingham over the coming weeks.

"I am going to walk a mile for every British serviceman who has died in Afghanistan while carrying the weight of a combat soldier on my back," Mr Greer explained.

In the process, he will be raising cash for five military charities – Help for Heroes, RAF Benevolent Fund, Royal Navy and Marine Charity, SSAFA and the Army Benevolent Fund.

Mr Greer added that he is only too aware of the price that has been paid by some to ensure many Britons continue to live in comfort.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801556663-ADNFCR
