Beer lovers are in for a real treat when it comes to choosing their favourite breakfast treat from now on, as manufacturers have started making a beer spread for toast.

Available at Selfridges, the quirky new breakfast accompaniment contains an impressive 40 per cent beer and could be the perfect hair of the dog breakfast for those who may have partied a little too hard the previous evening.

The Daily Mail reports the new Omid dark ale spreadable beer is available in two varieties – one with an intense and full-bodied taste and aroma and a second which is much more delicate.

Nicola Waller, Selfridges' director of food, stated: "It has the perfect composition using high quality ingredients, it might be an acquired taste, but for beer lovers out there it is perfect."

Developed as a collaboration between an Italian chocolate maker and beer brewer, the product is likely to go down well with beer enthusiasts across the UK.
