Escaping from jail is usually a well-planned activity.

If criminals are going to take the chance and make a run for it, they generally need to know what their next move is once they are on the outside.

However, Joseph Jose Banks and Kenneth Conley have demonstrated a remarkably relaxed attitude to the whole process, as the pair just flagged down a taxi after breaking out of high-rise jail in downtown Chicago.

According to Reuters, a $50,000 (£30,000) reward has been issued by authorities for anyone who helps to capture the lawbreakers, who were in jail for armed robbery.

It certainly seems like a daring escape, as they broke a window in their cell, squeezed through the four-inch opening and then lowered themselves down nearly 20 storeys to the street.

The escape demonstrates some gumption, but if the pair are caught, they'll have to spend up to a further five years behind bars.
