A Specsavers in Enfield has managed to raise over £1,000 for Help for Heroes.

In order to collect cash for the organisation, a Best of British-themed party was put on at the store, the Enfield Independent reports.

As well as fancy dress, a town crier also made an appearance, as the shop celebrated its 15th anniversary.

Store director Mark Anderson said: "We are … delighted to have raised so much money for such a great cause. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers."

The money will go towards a number of projects Help for Heroes have planned in order to improve the lives of former and current servicemen and women.

Four personnel recovery centres have already been developed in Hampshire, Colchester, Edinburgh and Catterick.

The organisation is working with the Royal British Legion – which also coordinates the Poppy Appeal – to look after the buildings.
