True love is a brilliant thing and it should always be celebrated.

One elderly woman has shown how much she cares for her husband after she beat off a moose trying to attack him.

Dorothea Taylor came to the rescue of George Murphy with a shovel after the animal jumped on her partner.

Speaking to the Anchorage Daily News, Mr Murphy stated: "He spotted me and he started to come right after me. So I was trying to get to the truck. But I didn't make it."

While most people would freeze, the 85-year-old female channelled her rage and went after the moose with the blunt object.

Considering Ms Taylor is five foot tall and weighs only seven stone, you have to take your hat off and admire her courage.

I just hope that if I ever get caught in such a compromising situation, my wife would come to my rescue as well.
