Eamonn Holmes is to front a radio fundraiser being held in aid of Help for Heroes.

The celebrity will be hosting a special programme as part of an 18-hour appeal that will see GMG Radio's Real, Smooth and Rock stations come together to raise funds for the cause, Radio Today reports.

It is the second time the annual event will take place – with last year's show generating more than £200,000.

The broadcast will feature the stories of inspirational troops who have been injured in battle.

Holmes said: "Whose heart doesn't go out to the brave soldiers and families who have borne the brunt of conflict? They need our help and appreciation."

He added it is a real honour to have been asked to present this special event for an amazing charity.

A collection of 65 local women from Stoke recently stripped off to pose for a calendar – entitled Real Stoke Girls – to raise money for Help for Heroes, the BBC reported.
