Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt has been named as the newest ambassador of the mental health charity Combat Stress.

The former Coronation Street actress will work to raise awareness of the good cause and the work it does in helping servicemen and women to overcome mental health problems, reports Third Sector.

She will also campaign for veterans and their families to seek help when it is clearly required, rather than keep issues locked away.

Froggatt spent some time with Combat Stress recently while she was researching a role she played in the film In Our Name. It involved her portraying a soldier who was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

As someone who has played such a relevant role, Froggatt is the ideal candidate to support Combat Stress.

She will immediately start work on increasing the public's knowledge of the types of stress that can be suffered by those who have served their country.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801695616-ADNFCR
