Police officers in Dorset have completed a 15.5-mile walk for charity.

Those who took part trekked from the forces headquarters at Winfrith to Weymouth police station and all of the money raised went to Pilgrim Bandits, the Dorset Echo reports.

In total over £2,500 was collected by the initiative, while around 130 people went the distance.

Superintendent Mick Rogers was one of those who helped plan the undertaking and he was delighted to collect so much for a "worthwhile cause".

"I would really like to thank those members of the public that provided us with so much support during the walk. Their support was greatly appreciated," he added.

Supt Rogers continued by saying although the weather was not great, everyone involved still managed to enjoy themselves.

Pilgrim Bandits – which counts Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannnatyne as one of its patrons – takes injured armed forces members on adventure and confidence building trips.
