Dog swallows nine billiard balls

Dogs have been known to swallow some extremely strange things from time to time.

However, one pooch from the US has taken his love of billiards a step too far by gulping down nine balls.

His owners took the canine to the vet after noticing he had went lame and after conducting an X-ray, the professionals soon realised what the problem was.

Such was the bizarre nature of the four-legged friend's antics that it has won America's Wackiest X-ray contest.

Other entries in the competition included a dog who had swallowed a bottle of glue and another who ingested his owner's false teeth.

It just goes to show how important it is to keep an eye on pets at all times to prevent them from eating things they shouldn't be.

However, it is not as bad as the story of Mir Li, a 37-year-old who was found to have lived for four years with a blade in his skull after he was stabbed.
