Single soldiers who would like to meet people from different places could find online dating helps them in their pursuit.

This is because News Times has told the story of one US couple who married after meeting over the net – despite living miles apart from.

The website noted Leona Orphanos and Henry Chodosh resided a considerable distance from each other when they hooked up on the world wide web.

After dating for around five-and-a-half years, the couple decided to tie the knot and Ms Orphanos has left her home to live with Mr Chodosh in his hometown of Danbury.

She added: "At this point, I probably know more people than Henry does – and he grew up in this area."

Relationships expert David Kamau recently suggested online dating sites can offer the prospect for serious companionship and claimed they are more effective at helping people meet than social networking portals, RNIF.com reported.
