Members of Churston Golf Club in Devon have helped to raise £4,000 for Help for Heroes (H4H).
The armed forces charity was selected as its good cause 12 months ago and a series of fundraising events have been held to collect money for it, the Herald Express reports.
Bill Phillips, past captain of the club – which has been in existence since the 1800s – and the man who chose H4H, noted over £1,000 was raised in one night when BBC commentator Peter Alliss came to a dinner free of charge.
"I wanted to raise money for the cause purely because I am always impressed by the sacrifices our armed forces make and this was a little way of trying to give something back," Mr Phillips observed.
He remarked he is delighted to have collected so much money for the charity, before adding he had a great time organising all of the events as well.
