A group of people who spent the weekend (March 1st and 2nd) collecting money for Help for Heroes in a Debenhams store have told how the response they received was terrific.
Stephen Palmer headed up a team of volunteers at the branch in Hounslow to rattle their buckets in a bid to persuade shoppers to part with some cash, reports getwestlondon.
He explained the event went really well and the store's staff were particularly supportive, with Debenhams still working to add up exactly how much was raised.
"It shouldn't be down to the public to support the poor injured servicemen and women coming back from Afghanistan, but I think people realise that if the government's not going to do it someone has to," Mr Palmer stated.
The fundraising effort spanned two days and the money will soon be given to the charity to aid its support of injured and wounded former military personnel.
