Dating soldiers who are hoping to get their groove back in the relationship arena have been advised to log online and practice their flirting skills on a social networking site.

Psychologist Judith Sills, PhD, told Reader’s Digest that the internet can be utilised as a way for troops who are looking to meet a potential partner to learn how to relate to a new person if it has been a long time since they last dated.

Similarly, she said that online dating and social networking sites can also provide a good opportunity for people to practice their flirting skills and learn how to strike up a conversation, without having to meet someone face-to-face.

Judith went on to add that while many people think that they will save time on internet dating sites by stipulating exactly what they want from a partner, it might actually be wise to be more broad-minded and get to know people they wouldn’t usually chat to.

But perhaps most importantly, tell the truth. Dating guru Anita Maree recently told the Mosman Daily News that telling lies online will be embarrassing when a face-to-face meeting happens.
