Dating soldiers who are in the process of creating a profile for a social networking site would be wise to ensure they smile in their display picture, it has been suggested.
"Smile and the web will smile with you," advises Dominic Knight, writing for the Sydney Morning Herald.
"The big smiles in their photos project the impression that their life is wonderful, and that anyone would be lucky to become part of it."
He goes on to recommend that members of the armed forces who are lucky enough to be in possession of a good set of gnashers should make sure they show them off at any opportunity.
In terms of hair style, Dominic says the most popular online profiles feature pictures of men showing virtually no sign of receding hairlines or thinning hair, with only a few showcasing the silver fox look.
However, Jo Blackwell of New York’s Dopdop Salon recently told allfacebook.com that men shouldn’t try to conceal the fact they are balding, saying if they embrace it, nobody else will care about their lack of hair.
