The staff at one company in Burton are well on their way to reaching a target of raising £50,000 for military charity Help for Heroes.

Irwin Tools has made a £20,000 donation to the group's bid, which was boosted recently when Harriet Walsh and several of her colleagues took part in a lengthy bike ride for the cause, reports the Burton Mail.

Ms Walsh and her counterparts pedalled 190 miles from Lichfield to London over two days, and in the process are said to have picked up 24 blisters and used up seven tubs of Vaseline.

She said: "Help for Heroes is a fantastic cause and The Big Bike Ride is just one way we're showing our support – some of the guys have volunteered to take part in the Great North Run too."

Ms Walsh went on to explain that while she knew the ride would be extremely tough, she also found it to be great fun because of the team spirit between the colleagues.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801599213-ADNFCR
