A motorbike rider is to swap his engine for a bicycle to help raise funds for troops injured in battle.

Damien English will take part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride Tour – which will see him travel from Portsmouth to Paris – to generate cash for Help for Heroes, the Petersfield Post reports.

The 28-year-old will be covering more than 300 miles to complete the task, which is to get underway on June 6th to mark the 67th anniversary of D-Day.

He observed: "I will be visiting various historical military landmarks and will be paying my respects along the way, along with more than 200 other mad cyclists."

Mr English has set a fundraising target of £2,300 and is eager to generate the cash to benefit the charity.

Luton Today recently reported pupils from Putteridge High School were treated to a visit to the Help for Heroes headquarters at Headley Court as a thank you for their fundraising efforts.
