In the movies, getaway chases always seem really exciting and leave you on the edge of your seat.

However, two middle-aged women from Manchester showed they may not be cut out for a career in criminality after stealing £400 worth of booze.

They loaded their swag into the boot of a car in the car park at an Asda in Rochdale, but then Rose Devlin and Denise Egan quickly realised their motor was out of fuel and so they had to push it to the petrol station.

All of the action was caught on CCTV as the oblivious pair filled up their vehicle before driving off.

These images were than added to the police database and when they tried the move at a different supermarket four months later, this information was used to tie the hapless pair to the crime.

Both pleaded guilty to theft and it just goes to show that people should always be prepared.
