Many couples head to Paris for romantic breaks, but Kate and Andrew Bennett decided to go to the French capital to show their support for soldiers and raise money for charity.

They cycled some 297 miles from Crystal Palace to the city in aid of Help for Heroes, the Crawley News reports.

To-date they have managed to raise £3,300 for the organisation, but hope they can reach their target of £3,500.

Mrs Bennett said: "It was really hard and my legs felt wobbly afterwards but it was all worth it."

She claimed the experience was certainly worth it and she enjoyed meeting the 139 people who were also taking part in the four-day feat.

David Penk from Haywards Heath in Surrey is also planning to raise funds for the charity by heading on a 700-mile canoe trip around the UK, the BBC recently reported.

The 51-year-old will spend his entire journey outside and planned to spend his nights sleeping in a hammock.
