Single soldiers wishing to hook up with a prospective partner through online dating should communicate with the person before agreeing to meet them, it has been suggested.

According to In2Town, individuals are advised to speak to someone at least ten times over a period of 14 days prior to a first date.

The website recommended: "Do not rush into meeting them, wait at least two weeks with regular online and offline contact."

It noted singletons should trust their instincts when getting to know another internet user and refrain from contacting them if they do not feel completely comfortable with their personality.

People should only reveal personal details to another subscriber when they feel ready and strive to meet in a public place for the initial get-together, the portal added.

In a recent article for Helium, Cynthia Wall advised online daters to take things slowly at first, as there will be plenty of time to get to know one another if a long-term relationship is a real possibility.
