Raising money for charity can be as easy as pie – literally, given that bake sales are a popular way to gather some cash for a good cause.

As part of Help for Heroes' (H4H) Colossal Cake Sale campaign, the charity's Recovery Centres are just some of the places that have been holding bake sales recently. The charity reports that biscuits, cakes and more have been involved in the activities at its centres.

Recovery centres where the sales have been held include Tedworth House, Phoenix House and others. At the Tedworth cake sale, My Makeover and Wahl were on hand offering the likes of haircuts and shaves, too.

One example of another bake sale held in support of the Colossal Cake campaign – which ran April 19th to May 5th according to the H4H website – is one that was held by McKenna Townsend, a Ringwood marketing and PR agency.

Some £271.67 was raised through the April 29th sale, the company reports.

“The team here has a close connection with Help for Heroes and we wanted to show our support for the Colossal Cake Sale campaign, so we decided to hold a cake sale at our offices in Ringwood," explained McKenna Townsend associate director, Ian Payne.

He said everyone had done some baking, with "a mountain of cakes and treats" produced. Some workers' relatives had come to help while people from McKenna Townsend were busy with work, he added.

Mr Payne also said the event had proved to be really fun, with businesses nearby giving a brilliant response.

"We’re very grateful for all the support and proud to have raised so much money for a truly excellent cause," he addedADNFCR-2867-ID-801720531-ADNFCR
