Former rugby hero Colin Charvis has signed up to help a military charity and will put a host of servicemen and police personnel through their paces ahead of an upcoming event.
The 12-man team is to complete a 1,283-mile journey across the UK in aid of Help for Heroes and Charvis has pledged to get them into shape before they tackle the challenge.
From John O'Groats to Land's End, the group will cycle their way from one end of the UK to the other and row across the Irish Sea twice.
A £20,000 donation from G4S has provided all the support the team needs and Charvis told the Epson Guardian the firm's backing has been crucial.
"Without this donation the team would not be able to attempt this incredible challenge, which will be a mammoth test of physical and mental toughness. The team will average more than 100 miles per day," he explained.
