Single soldiers should concentrate on being happy and confident before they look to meet a new partner.

This is the advice of the Daily Mirror's agony aunt and Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, who responded to a 38-year-old who was concerned she would never find love again.

Nolan writes: "Don't worry, you're still young. People get married later in life nowadays and have babies then. Just focus on being happy."

It is also important not to search for Mr or Mrs Perfect, as this can limit people's choices, she warns.

Getting out, having fun and meeting others can teach singletons what they are looking for in a partner, Nolan suggests.

One individual who is using online dating to search for love is an American woman named Debbie, who has published a video on the internet in which she professes her love of cats to potential suitors.

The clip has become an online sensation, as Debbie gets emotional when revealing her interests.
