Customers at four coffee shops in Essex have come together to raise an impressive £5,000 for charity over the last few weeks.

Two branches of Costa Coffee in Hornchurch and another two in Upminster put collection boxes on display to encourage customers to hand over donations in aid of Help for Heroes, reports the Romford Recorder.

They were four of 33 stores in total throughout the south-east that did so in order to raise money for the worthy cause.

Kafeel Khan, chief executive of Goldex Investments, one of the partners in Costa's franchise in the region, said: "We're very aware people are feeling the pinch so it's wonderful so many have dug deep to make a donation."
In total, the four branches raised more than £5,000 for the charity, which will be used to support injured and wounded servicemen.

Mr Khan added that the response had been "incredibly generous" and Costa would like to thank its customers.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801630559-ADNFCR
