Thousands of people from near and far will take part in a series of events at Chepstow Racecourse next month to mark British Armed Forces Day and to show support to those fighting in Afghanistan.

The festivities will take place as the brave boys and girls fighting in the Middle East receive packages from home with lots of treats and goodies for them, thisisbristol.co.uk reports.

People keen to support soldiers can take part in the Thunder Rally weekend which begins on June 25th and will include military displays, music and motorcycle-based events.

The organisers will also try and establish a video link with troops in Helmand Province so they can see how much everybody at home misses them.

Denise Harris, founder of the Afghan Heroes charity, told the news provider that she is hopeful that the link will be established.

"Having achieved our first aim of packing 10,000 boxes so that every single one of our troops in Afghanistan gets a parcel on Armed Forces Day, we are hoping to link up with Afghanistan on Saturday to see some of them delivered," she added.

Tomorrow (Saturday), troops from the Rifles Regiment will be granted Freedom of the Borough of Shropshire and will also be given specially-commissioned tiles as a thank you for doing their bit for Queen and country.
