A new recovery centre for injured soldiers is to be built by the charity Help for Heroes.

Located at Colchester Garrison, the Personnel Recovery Centre will be able to cater for up to 20 residents and 40 day visitors and will be jointly managed by The Royal British Legion, the BBC reported.

It will be the first of four facilities to be constructed throughout England and was chosen because it was one of the largest garrisons in the country, with more than 3,300 troops, said Tom Fleetwood, commander of Colchester Garrison.

"Over the next year we will be working closely with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion to design and build the best possible facility for our sick and wounded servicemen and women," he told the news provider.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has revealed plans to support injured soldiers as part of the new Army Recovery Capability initiative, which will give educational, occupational and welfare support.
