A charity tattooathon has been held in Poole to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Adorned Tattoo workers were on hand for 13 hours to ink people's bodies, with a minimum £20 donation required, the Bournemouth Echo reports.

Individuals got the chance to choose from three designs and all of them have been inspired by the military charity.

Alex Hennerley, owner of the business, said the idea for the event came from the number of people who have been getting memorial tattoos of friends and family killed while serving.

Rich Walsh was one of the customers who took the plunge and he said: "I have lots of friends in the forces. They do a really hard job and they deserve a bit of respect."

It comes after ex-soldier Shaun Clark got the 383 names of those who have died so far in Afghanistan tattooed on his body as a mark of respect.
