Laura Ashby is releasing a charity single to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the creation of Help for Heroes (H4H).

The song is entitled Soldier's Wife and all of the profits raised from the single will go the military charity, the Chesterfield Post reports.

Ms Ashby told the paper that the track, which was written by St Elmo's Fire rocker John Parr, is her chance to do something to help those injured while serving their country.

"The very first time I heard the song with its beautiful words I immediately felt a connection with the wives who have lost their husbands tragically in war," she added.

Ms Ashby, whose husband dies from a heart attack two years ago, will be performing live at Ponds Forge on November 3rd in order to boost the fundraising appeal.

H4H was set up on October 1st 2007 by Bryn and Emma Parry after they visited injured soldiers at a Birmingham hospital.
