Help for Heroes has gained more than £8,000 after a rugby club held a charity tournament in a bid to raise money for the good cause.
The Alcester & Redditch Advertiser has told how Alcester RFC put on a competition that included a Forces team made up of veterans and a Redditch team to represent the local area.
In addition to the action on the pitch, the 2nd Studley Guides ran a cake stall in order to bring in extra money, and numerous businesses offered sponsorship and prizes.
Marilyn Barnett, regional coordinator for Help for Heroes, said: "It was a great pleasure to see such community spirit, with people from all walks of life and all age groups working together with a common aim."
The tournament was eventually won by the Redditch team and the total amount of cash raised was said to be £8,433, which will go towards helping injured servicemen around the UK.
