A charity pro-am competition has raised £6,000 for the military charity Battle Back.
The event was held at Betchworth Park Golf Club and saw teams of four – comprised of one professional and three amateurs – compete for victory, the Leatherhead Advertiser reports.
Club captain Peter Gallagher and ladies' captain Helen Gibbons-Maude made the decision to support Battle Back, which helps armed forces members who have been injured in the line of duty.
"Battle Back is a tri-service initiative that uses adaptive training and sports rehabilitation in the aftercare of seriously injured service personnel to help them gain confidence to return to an active life," they explained.
The pair stated 80 veterans are now playing golf thanks to the programme, which is supported by the Ministry of Defence, the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
Battle Back aims to speed up the physical, psychological and social recovery of military personnel struggling to adapt to normal life.
