A golf day organised to support Battle Back has raised £4,000 for the military charity.

The event was held at Betchworth Park Golf Club in Surrey and all of the money collected through sponsorships and donations will help injured servicemen and women adjust to their new lives.

Major Tristan Crew, executive officer at Headley Court, told the Leatherhead Advertiser that sport can be good when trying to rehabilitate soldiers both physically and psychologically.

"Golf is ideal. It is already adapted, with trolleys and buggies and the handicap system which allows them to be competitive," Major Crew stated.

He added the whole community has got behind the initiative and it is great to see the support, as five soldiers were presented with electric golf trolleys after the event to help them get around 18 holes.

Battle Back is a Ministry of Defence-led initiative funded by The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
