A charity fundraiser with a history of generating cash for worthy causes is turning her attention to helping soldiers wounded while representing their country.

Irene Edwards, who has collected more than £130,000 for the Christie Hospital in Manchester, would now like to raise funds for Help for Heroes, the Crewe Chronicle reports.

The Shavington local resident said she wants to "do her bit" to help the cause – especially as her grandson is currently serving in the army.

Ms Edwards is organising an entertainment night at Shavington Social Club on February 12th.

Acts scheduled to appear at the shindig are headliner Don Reid, the Jukebox Heroes and the Masquerade School of Performing Arts.

Tickets for the spectacle are available for £5 and all proceeds from the evening will be donated to the charity.

Get Bracknell recently reported that a team from Romans estate agents walked 16 miles to Windsor Castle, raising more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes in the process.
