A 22-year-old daredevil is hoping to show his support for British troops by undertaking a voyage across the English Channel.

Chris Du’Mont wants to generate funds for Help for Heroes by making the trip between Dover and Calais by kayak, the Coventry Telegraph reports.

He is looking to raise at least £1,500 for the cause by tackling the 23-mile journey.

The escapade is to be filmed by Mr Du’Mont’s friend Stuart Kettell, who will be travelling alongside his pal by boat.

Mr Du’Mont told the newspaper he has canoed as a child but has never before taken on such a challenge.

“I decided a long time ago that I wanted to do something for charity and now I’ve finally made it happen,” he explained.

It was recently reported Ken Timms and his great-nephew Daniel Brown undertook a journey via canoe from Selby to Liverpool in an attempt to collect sponsorship money for Help for Heroes.
