Hero soldiers injured while fighting for their country are to receive a boost from emergency services in Chester, as forces are to compete in a charity football match.

Representatives of North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Police will be playing in the game – proceeds from which are being donated to Help for Heroes, the Chester Chronicle reports.

The tie is to be played at Chester Football Club's Exacta Stadium on Sunday May 22nd, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 BST.

Young singer Megan Broadhurst will be providing entertainment at half-time – and the money raised from sales of her album on the day will also go towards the fundraising effort.

Paramedic Neil Allen said: "This seemed like a good way for us to show our support to the armed forces and to give something back to them."

Superleague outfit Warrington Wolves recently sported a special Help for Heroes kit during their encounter with Castleford Tigers as they aimed to generate thousands of pounds for the charity, the Warrington Guardian reported.
