A charity music event is being planned at Burnley Football Club to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Cherie Cairns and Paul Seedall are organising the concert, the Clitheroe Advertiser explains, in order to bring the community together and support the charity.

Ms Cairns came up with the idea when she was listening to some music and realised what a great way this is to unite people.

She then selected Help for Heroes because she believes it is an incredibly worthy cause.

"It is in amazing charity and the soldiers who fight for our country every day need our help," Ms Cairns states.

Local singers, dancers, choirs and bands will attend the concert on June 10th and there are all sorts of other attractions planned, such as a raffle and auction.

Mr Seedall reveals there will be a calendar photo shoot and poker tournaments leading up to the gig, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

Another fundraising effort in being held by women from Pembrokeshire and surrounding areas, as the Western Mail recently revealed a group of wives and girlfriends of soldiers have written a novel – Daffodil Girls – about their experiences.
