Gardening brand Gardman has created a brand new poppy-shaped bird feeder, not only to provide food for our feathered friends but also to raise money for the British armed forces.

The feeder, which is made of cast iron, is on sale in several stores, including Thaxters in Dersingham, The General Store and Hunstanton and Fakenham Garden Centre, among others. The aim of the garden centres is to hit a target of £200,000, which will be given to the Royal British Legion that has the famous poppy as its symbol.

Costing £6.99, Gardman is set to donate 50 pence from every sale of the poppy towards the charity, which provides advice, guidance and practical support to those who are ex-service and currently enrolled in all the armed forces.

According to Gavin White, brand manager at Garden Wild Bird Care, the iconic poppy was the perfect choice for the company to raise money for those who are in the forces. He said: "We hope we can make a real difference to the armed forces community and their family through donations raised."

He continued on to explain that "more than half of adults in the UK currently feed birds in their garden", making the cast iron poppy the perfect choice to attract them and to show support for the Royal British Legion.

Louise Ajdukiewicz, head of corporate partnerships at The Royal British Legion, added that the money would be enabling "the Legion to continue its work providing vital care", to all those who need it.

These pretty poppies can be picked up online and are easily inserted into the ground so you can help to raise some money and support without the need for a green thumb.  ADNFCR-2867-ID-801824038-ADNFCR
