A charity auction has been held by cadets from RAF Coningsby in order to raise money for Help for Heroes – and the event has been deemed a success.
Local businesses, families of servicemen and RAF Coningsby itself put forward a host of items to go under the hammer at the sale, which was hosted by The Golf Hotel in Woodhall Spa, reports the Horncastle News.
In total, £1,460 was raised at the auction, of which half has gone to Help for Heroes, with the other half being diverted to squadron funds.
Corporal Vicky Leek, head of the auction's organising committee, said: "I cannot thank the cadets enough for all their hard work. It's a staggering amount of money and it will be put to good use."
It is just the latest in a string of events to be held across the country to raise money for Help for Heroes, which supports wounded servicemen and their families.
