London's cat community could be among the most pampered in the world if a brand new feline cafe opens in the city.
Entrepreneur Lauren Pears is behind the idea for a cat cafe and more than £100,000 has been donated by members of the public to help make the scheme a reality, reports the Independent.
Ms Pears is now busy looking for a suitable site for the venture in the Old Street area of the capital and the aim is to open the doors for the first time in May.
Cat cafes are widespread in Japan, giving people who are unable to own a pet the chance to visit and spend time with their feline friends.
The businesswoman described herself as "chief crazy cat lady" and suggested she has spotted a gap in the UK market.
More than 300 applications for jobs in the new business have already been received and about 15 new ones are sent in every day.
