Michael Ashcroft and Tom Mackey have raised £610 for Help for Heroes so far and are hoping to generate a lot more before taking part in the race in June, the Watford Observer reports.

Tom’s father Richard said that he is pleased his son is taking part in the event and doing something to help people less fortunate than himself.

"It’s also a great thing for the image of younger lads, especially when you see images in the paper of people out getting drunk – this is something really good," he told the newspaper.

The pair have painted their van in military-style camouflage colours and have called themselves the Bomb Squad.

It seems everyone is gearing up to do their bit to support Help for Heroes, with Forcespenpals.co.uk sponsoring a 311 mile bike ride by 50 soldiers from the UK to Holland aimed at raising money for the charity.ADNFCR-2867-ID-19778411-ADNFCR van in the Urban Allstar Rally from High Wycombe to Barcelona.
