Can online dating help you hide beauty secrets?

A typical women goes to great lengths to hide an average of eight beauty secrets from her boyfriend or husband.

That is the conclusion of a new study by feelunique, which surveyed 2,000 women and discovered many are always making an effort to hide certain things from their loved one.

Some ladies even spend hours each day taking hidden measures to make themselves look more beautiful while going under the radar of their partner.

Researchers discovered women do not like their men to find out that they pluck, wax and shave their bodies, so hair removal is a big secret. Whether it is being taken from toes, the chin, the body or the bikini line, females will go to great lengths to hide it.

Siobhan McDermott, general manager at feelunique, said the study shows just how remarkably private ladies are about their beauty regime, with many desperate to keep up the idea that they are naturally beautiful and have smooth skin.

"As such, women go to great lengths to hide certain aspects of their beauty regime from their partner, conducting a multitude of preening tasks behind closed doors," she explained.

"When ladies get more comfortable with a partner they might let a few of their secrets slip, but two thirds simply feel they are being more lady-like by tending to themselves in private."

The majority of women also said there is no way they would tell their partner if they had taken the decision to wear body-slimming underwear, while many would hate the idea of their spouse even knowing that they have to remove hairs from their nose occasionally.

Plenty of girls have also hidden the fact they wear chicken fillets in their bra from their partner on a night out.

With women determined to be so secretive, online dating could be the ideal platform to meet a new man, as it allows them to keep certain details to themselves – either until they are ready to share them or perhaps forever more.
