Two teenagers from Buxton have taken on a gruelling challenge in order to raise money for Help for Heroes (H4H).
Alex Russell and Ben Hope covered 24 miles across three mountain peaks in under ten hours as they sought to raise as much cash as possible for the military charity, the Derbyshire Times reports.
After scaling Pen-y-Ghent (2,277 ft), the 18-year-olds then tackled Whernside (2,415 ft) and Ingleborough (2,372 ft).
Their final time was nine hours and 57 minutes – just three minutes inside the aim – although they had to jog the last two miles.
Both of the lads proved their fitness earlier this year when they took part in the Buxton Triathlon and they are already planning their next challenge for 2013.
So far they have raised nearly £750 for H4H and they will be keen to reach four figures in recognition of their efforts.
