It's hard to beat a good sausage as part of a meal.

You won't find many people who are sad to see the produce on their plate, especially at breakfast time.

However, one butcher from Northamptonshire claims to have made the hottest sausage ever.

Martin Trendall has dubbed the foodstuff the Pork Inferno Sausage as it contains four scorching Bhut Jolokia chillies, which are 400 times hotter than Tobasco sauce.

Such is the power the chilli possesses – it clocks in at one million Scoville units, which measures the heat of the foodstuff – that it is also used in non-lethal grenades.

It sounds like you need to be a brave man or woman to have a go at one of the sausages and people are asked to only eat one of them at a time because of their heat.

Individuals might therefore want to have plenty of water nearby before attempting one.
