Single soldiers looking to improve their physique should not forget about their calves, an area often missed out on during gym sessions, according to an experienced personal trainer.

Troy Meyers, who is also a sports conditioner, wrote for Project Q Atlanta that many concentrate on the upper body and miss out on the calves, bringing disproportionate results.

"To produce impressive calves, you must focus on working hard to build them up and give them just as much attention as any other body part," Mr Meyers said.

He recommended going heavy when working out the calves and aim to increase weights 25-50 pounds each month.

This will provide tendons and ligaments with the time they need to adapt to the rising weight, Mr Meyers added.
